Shopping for Fitness

Yoga, crossfit, tabata, Pilates, cycling, swimming? What's your go to? Finding the right fitness routine is akin to finding the right job. Your fitness routine needs to resonate with you. It needs to be something you get excited about. Ok, so maybe not excited but at least get you out of bed in the morning, or worth fitting in after work before you go home to binge watch Netflix. It should feel like self care, not punishment.

My fitness journey was long, beginning with running at age 12. I felt the need for strength training so I tried weight Lifting in college which left me less than excited and was short lived. It wasn't until after the birth of my son that I found Pilates. It was a perfect match and I started seeing results within a few weeks of two sessions a week. I never saw myself as an instructor but it quickly morphed into an apprenticeship and instructor training and eventually adding the studio as a component to Benessere Chiropractic. It felt so natural and right. Since then I've tried about a dozen or so other exercise modalities from Crossfit to Zumba and found the ones that brought me the most gratification. The two that became part of my regular routine are TRX and Pound. And these are the modalities I obtained certifications in and continue to offer in the studio.

Fitness is not a one size fits all concept. What is great for others might not be the best fit for you. I encourage everyone to try it all. Discard what does not fit you and keep what is right for you. You'll know when you find it because it will become something that improves your health, your heart, your life and you might even look forward to it.
